BASI & Interski

Interski Snowsport School

In summary, the largest British snowsport school in the world catering for over 12,500 clients per season. We are the largest employer of BASI instructors, allowing you to shadow a multitude of classes, age ranges and ability levels.

We work very closely with the Italian snowsport school giving you a real insight into a commercial European ski school. A member of our full-time snowsport school staff is assigned to all Gap year students as their Gap Trainer. They will ensure your Gap course development is always moving in the right direction.

The Interski Snowsport School is part of Interski. Over the course of 27 years and 250,000 clients, Interski has established itself as the UK’s market leader for schools and college skiing. Interski is the largest British tour operator in the Aosta Valley, and boasts an enviable client base and an unrivalled reputation. From the hub of the company’s UK office to the slopes of the Aosta Valley, Interski thrives on success.

Interski operates in three ski areas of the Aosta Valley in north west Italy. Originally based in the resort of Courmayeur, Interski has expanded over a period of time to nearby La Thuile and Aosta/Pila. Rather than spread its resources over different continents and countries, Interski has remained in the Aosta Valley, re-investing and concentrating on a massive resort infrastructure.

BASI

The British Association of Snowsport Instructors is the British body responsible for delivering courses to train and assess snowsport instructors. Their courses are well respected and recognised around the world.

During the Interski Gap Year Instructor Training Course, students will become associate members of BASI and complete the Alpine Level 1 and 2 Instructor courses. These courses will be delivered by trainers from BASI, who have been specially selected for their skills, knowledge, experience and teaching ability.

Each trainer leads a group of trainees through a course syllabus which includes lesson planning, personal performance, technical evening workshops and video feedback both on and off the hill. There is an emphasis on practical 'on snow' instruction and demonstration.

All BASI trainers are qualified to the highest international level with ISTD (International Ski Teacher Diploma) or ISIA (International Ski Instructor's Association) qualifications.
